The Gentlemen was a box office hit that grossed $115.2 million, and now the action-packed film written, directed, and produced by Ritchie will become a one-hour series for Netflix. The original plot followed an American named Mickey Pearson (played by Matthew McConaughey) who tries to sell his highly profitable marijuana empire in London, causing him to run into all sorts of conflicts. The original cast included some high-profile actors such as Colin Farrell, Hugh Grant, Henry Golding, and Charlie Hunnam.

According to Variety, in The Gentlemen series, James will be playing Eddie, who inherits his father’s estate only to find out that it actually falls under the empire of Mickey Pearson. James rose to fame when he was cast as one of the leads in the hit film Divergent. Now it seems as if television has been good to James this year. The actor has some notable roles under his belt, including Cameron Babcock in The White Lotus and Sidney Parker in Sandition. James also stars as lead character Henry DeTamble in HBO Max’s The Time Traveler’s Wife.

The pilot episode for The Gentlemen series will be co-written by Ritchie and Matthew Read, the latter being a film producer and writer who will be producing this new series along with Miramax. At least those audiences who have seen the film will likely get a familiar feel when the show premiers. Netflix is known for popping out more shows than they can keep. Hopefully, with experienced and well-known producers and writers, this show could possibly be a staple for Netflix.

With production starting soon, those who haven’t seen the hit film The Gentlemen can still turn on Netflix and get the popcorn out for an action-packed movie night. As for those who want their James fix, viewers can catch him on White Lotus every Sunday on HBO and HBO Max.

The Gentlemen is coming soon to Netflix.
