The Halo series underwent a rocky production process as filming suffered several delays due to the effect of the pandemic, however, during 2021’s Game Awards the live-action Master Chief was finally revealed. This was followed by the show’s first full trailer being dropped in January, leaving fans intrigued and in some cases divided, due to creative decisions like Cortana’s design.

Regardless of that, Paramount is confident of Master Chief and the rest of the UNSC’s success in their fight against the Covenant after announcing on Twitter season one already has a guaranteed follow-up confirmed. As of now, Halo appears to be one of Paramount Plus’ most convincing sells for ViacomCBS’ rebranded streaming service, currently available in an ad-free $9.99 per month to Premium subscribers and $4.99 for the ad-supported Essential bracket.

The Halo series will star 6’5 actor Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief alongside several new Spartans exclusive to the series, though fans of the games will be more thrilled to know fans Jen Taylor (Cortana) and Natascha McElhone (Dr. Catherine Halsey) will be reprising their respective roles. Judging from early looks, it seems the Halo series features great attention to detail since the trailer had several easter eggs and references fans could find.

Paramount will be hoping the Halo series does far better than Halo Infinite, as the much-anticipated game is struggling with waning popularity among its player base, especially on platforms like Twitch where viewership continues to go down. One of the biggest criticisms the game has received is the lack of Forge Mode, though Halo Infinite could fix that soon enough, as well as multiple issues with its online multiplayer.

Halo is by far Microsoft’s biggest gaming property, even among growing library that continues to be bolstered via acquisitions, so it’s easy to see why some fan are bothered by the design differences between the Halo games and series already. Whatever the case, it looks like Master Chief’s streaming mission is just getting started.

Halo the TV series is set to premiere on Paramount Plus on March 24, 2022.
