First introduced in Halo: Combat Evolved, the Master Chief is famous for many reasons, such as his stoic persona. However, one of the biggest factors contributing to the popularity of the character is arguably his instantly-recognizable design. While it has seen minor alterations throughout the Halo franchise, the Spartan has always worn green armor. Recently, one passionate fan of the series decided to honor the iconic look of this armor with a new pair of kicks.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as KindType shared a collection of pictures of a new pair of Nike Metcon 7 training shoes they purchased. However, these were no ordinary sneakers. Instead, they were custom designed to resemble the MJOLNIR armor worn by the Master Chief. The shoes featured a dark green color contrasted against patches of black on the tongue, sides, and back. In addition, the Nike swoosh, along with parts of the toe and heel, had a gold coloration. On top of this, the Reddit user even had the number “117” embroidered on the back of each shoe.
Besides showing off the Halo shoes in several pictures, KindType gave more details about the custom design in the comments section. According to the Reddit user, they used the “Nike By You” program to make the custom design. In addition, they revealed that the quality of the product was solid, noting that it was lightweight and had decent support. For those interested in ordering a pair of shoes based on this custom template, KindType left a link on Reddit to the Nike website.
Since posting these custom running shoes on Reddit, numerous members of the Halo community have weighed in on the design. With over 8,800 upvotes in only a day, many loved the color scheme KindType chose for the shoes. Among the comments, fans particularly praised the addition of gold inserts near the heel. In addition, some loved the look of the shoes so much that they wanted to purchase a pair for themselves. “Hmm, I think it’s time for me to get new shoes,” DirectalArrow said on Reddit.
While these customized Halo-themed shoes are doubtlessly impressive, they are not the only ones to feature a design based on video games. For example, The Pokemon Company teamed up with Converse several months ago to start selling sneakers that featured popular Pokemon from the franchise, such as Pikachu, Charmander, and Bulbasaur. It will be interesting to see what shoes based on video games fans show off next.
