How to Save in Halo Infinite
To save in Halo Infinite, players will have to activate a checkpoint. These occur fairly regularly while exploring a mission in Halo Infinite, but one can be forced if players wish to make sure they don’t have to repeat a gameplay section.
To force a checkpoint outside of combat during a mission, continue to follow the mission objective until the “Saving checkpoint” text appears on the lower left-hand corner of the screen, above the radar. To force a checkpoint save during combat, players can run to an area far away from enemies while at maximum shields. This isn’t guaranteed to create a checkpoint, but it is more likely to occur than if engaged in combat in Halo Infinite.
To create a checkpoint save while exploring the open world, players can fast travel in Halo Infinite, complete an objective, find a collectible, or force a save during combat by repeating the steps above.
Finding Audio Logs, Mjolnir Armor Lockers, or Spartan Cores in Halo Infinite are just some of the collectibles that can activate an auto-save. These can be spotted by listening out for audio cues, pinging their location with the scanner, or looking for their location on a map.
As there is no manual save option in Halo Infinite, players cannot save their progress and return to an old state should their save file corrupt. Due to a glitch occurring when extra peripherals are connected, saves loading from the Cloud, or using Quick Resume, there is a possibility that players could encounter a save file erasing glitch.
To avoid this glitch, players should ignore the prompt to sign in again should it occur while they are loading a save, or playing the game. This might erase the progress of a previous game session, but it will keep the save file intact, meaning players do not need to restart the campaign or build their multiplayer account all over again.
Halo Infinite is out now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
