Corporate VP of Microsoft Game Studios Phil Spencer gave the announcement saying:
Making upwards of $200 million within its first 24 hours of release, Reach has cemented itself as the pinnacle of Halo games. Not even taking into consideration how great the game is, this is a feat in and of itself.
As impressive as this is, there are still many factors to take into consideration in order to more accurately compare revenue numbers. Many are willing to dispute Reach’s status as biggest entertainment launch, taking into account worldwide grosses and Reach’s $60 price tag. But as a money making machine, Reach currently reigns supreme. Of course, Black Ops may ultimately claim Reach’s spot at the top of the heap. After all, Modern Warfare 2 previously held the same record.
For now, let gamers everywhere sit back and enjoy their record breaking game and all it has to offer. We have been waiting to put a Spartan helmet back on for so long, we deserve to share in this achievement as owners of Halo: Reach.
How many of you Ranters helped contribute to this record breaking number and are you enjoying your Reach experience?
Halo: Reach, the biggest entertainment launch of 2010, is available now for Xbox 360.
