According to recent statistics, a group of Half-Life 2 fans got together to challenge themselves. The challenge was to have the most people playing at the same time, setting a new record. This was achieved by having as many people as possible playing the game at 4PM on August 14, and they were able to smash the previous record, which was set way back in 2012. While the previous record was 12, 953 which was reached nearly ten years ago, the new record is sitting pretty at 16,101....

Half-Life Lambda Wars actually began as mod for Half-Life 2 based off of Valve’s 2010 top-down shooter, Alien Swarm. The goal in Alien Swarm is to clear waves of aliens to progress through levels. Alien Swarm contains some RPG elements like class choice, interchangeable equipment and weapons, and unlockables as players progress. The idea for Half-Life Lambda Wars was to re-create the feel of top-down shooter action in Alien Wars and incorporate it into battles from Half-Life 2....

The information comes by way of Valve News Network’s creator, Tyler McVicker.
