While fans have been waiting for Half-Life 3, Valve shied away from working on its major franchises for several years. This was frustrating for some fans, who were excited about the possibility of Half-Life 3 and sequels to Portal and Left 4 Dead. While Valve seemed content to leave behind working on their major franchises, the team quietly started production on Half-Life: Alyx in 2016. The VR title was released in 2020 to critical acclaim, and since then fans have been wondering what’s next for Valve, now that it has returned to one of its most-adored series....

While Laidlaw didn’t confirm any specific reasons for his sudden departure after 18 years at Valve, he did mention that personal reasons and the chaos of game production led him to this decision. Laidlaw also spoke of his desire to work on more self-directed writing projects, citing his age as a big factor in making the career switch. The Hall of Fame goalie signed a two-year contract Thursday with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team. The 52-year-old Roy previously acted as part-owner, coach and GM of the Remparts from 2005-2013, winning a Memorial Cup in 2006. “The Remparts have always been my passion,” he said. Roy left the Remparts in 2013 for a three-year stint as coach and vice president of hockey operations for the Colorado Avalanche, during which he won the Jack Adams Trophy as NHL coach of the year in 2014....

The former running back also took a beating, and is now suing football equipment manufacturer Riddell, claiming the company’s helmets failed to properly protect him. Starting with the Warzone Firefight beta, which has been teased since late February, 343 plans to run it from April 14 through April 18. A full release is planned for later this summer. The only map available for the beta will be the Warzone map Escape from A.R.C., but many others will be included with the mode’s full launch. Arguably the biggest update to Halo 5 is the addition of Big Team Battle to the Arena multiplayer modes. For those who may not know, the mode pits two teams of eight players against one another, making it the largest multiplayer experience outside of the 24 person Warzone playlist. In addition to Big Team Battle, five new maps are also being added, including Deadlock, Basin, Guillotine, and Recurve.
